Curious about what to expect on our small group tours? Here are answers to the most common questions about group size, transport, meals, accommodation, and how our tours compare to larger group options.

What are the minimum numbers for your tours?

Our minimum numbers are 2 guests. Once we have two people booked, we are set to go. We can travel with one person if they are ok with paying for 2 places. Our waitlist is regularly checked for those single travelers wanting to join a tour without minimum numbers having been met.

What are the maximum numbers for your tours?

Our maximum numbers on our group touring are 8 guests. This works well with our vehicles, restaurants, and boutique accommodation partners. We can cater for larger groups but like to keep our guide to guests ratio as 1 to 8.

What’s the benefit of your small group touring over other larger options?

Large coach tours and backpacker tours have their place but we find it rather impersonal and a bit like herding cats. Our small groups have a very inclusive and interactional style, and our vehicles give us great access to locations bigger buses do not. We find traveling with between 4 and 8 guests is a perfect number as it leads to great conversations and a friendly atmosphere where everyone is involved.

Do you get to see many native animals?

Finding animals in the wild is certainly a priority on all our tours. Pierre and Jeremy both studied eco-tourism at university level and are passionate about supporting and upholding the balance between tourism and conservation. Sharing our knowledge of the flora and fauna is a key part of our experiences and a reason why we do not like to rush.

What size vehicles do you use?

For our group tours we use Renault Master buses which have 12 seats and perfect to give everyone a bit of room. These buses have a separate luggage area and powerful air-conditioning for those hot summer days. Reclining individual seats, USB ports and carpets to help with cabin noise are all features to make our travel more comfortable.

Do I get my own accommodation?

Yes, every couple or single traveler will get their own villa/room depending on where we are staying. Each couple/single will always have full private facilities without the need to share.

What meals are included?

We include breakfast and dinner for each night on tour. Chris’s restaurant does a wonderful meal overlooking the ocean followed by a deluxe continental breakfast the following morning.

The Barn has one of the best steakhouses in Australia and it is to die for. They also do a cooked breakfast to kickstart the next day.

When we stay at the Royal Mail Hotel at Dunkeld at the foot of the Grampians, we include the degustation menu at ‘Wickens’. It is a celebration of food and creativity and should not be missed. A simple in room continental is all that is necessary the following day but a stop by the bakery on the way out of town is not unheard of.

Do you do 1-day tours of the Great Ocean Road?

We will do the GOR in a day if we cannot convince people to do the 2-day or 3-day options, but it is not something we promote nor recommend. It is such a long day of driving, and you are limited in what you can see and the amount of time at each place. It is better doing it in a small vehicle rather than a big bus but if you have the time, an extra day is certainly worth it.
