1 Days

Discover Victoria's golden age on this private excursion to the Ballarat Goldfields. This private full day outing will have you understanding the enormous significance finding gold played in the establishment and prosperity of Australia.

Traveling with your private group, your day begins with collection from your city hotel at 0900 and a drive over the picturesque West Gate Bridge to the western highway. Our morning of gold digging begins as we make our way to Ballarat, the home of Gold in Victoria.

Sovereign Hill will be our first stop of the day. In this award winning re-creation of the Ballarat gold mining town of the 1850's you can try your luck panning for gold, go down in to an old mine, travel in a Cobb & Co coach, watch traditional tradesmen apply their skills or just enjoy the atmosphere of the Main Street.

After lunch we continue to discover some of the majestic architecture that is so typical in this historic town. Some of the country’s most intact 19th Century streetscapes are found in Lydiard and Sturt Streets and we have a look at Lake Wendouree, home of the rowing competition in the Melbourne Olympic Games, beside the Ballarat Botanical Gardens.

Our next stop will be the award-winning Ballarat Wildlife Park with a rich collection of Australian wildlife. There are

plenty of photo opportunities while experiencing close encounters with Koalas, Kangaroos, Crocodiles, Emus, Tasmanian

devils and more.
The day concludes with a return trip to your hotel by 1730.

Our Golden Day tour is a private tour only which departs at 0900 from Melbourne. Pickups are available from all city hotels within Melbourne. Passengers will be returned to their points of departure at 1730 at the completion of the tour.

Tours include :
• 1 x 2 course lunch

• Entrance fees as per itinerary
• Private group travel

Our guide Glenn's first comment was "there are no silly questions". Although I think we challenged that comment, you will not find anyone with more information about the Great Ocean Road. The spectacular scenery was only enhanced by Glenn's narratives and his willingness to accommodate our changes to his schedule. A well paced tour that is well worth the fee.

I took a solo trip to Australia on Feb/ March 2015 and this tour with Pierre of Natural Treasures was one of the highlights of my holiday. I would happily recommend it to anyone who wishes to be shown and informed about the many treasures along this beautiful stretch of coastline.

We were more than happy with our three day tour of The Great Ocean Road and the Grampians with Jeremy of Natural Treasures Touring. The small group tour was just what we liked: leisurely, knowledgeable, good food, great accommodation. We had time to really have a good look at the things that make the area so beautiful.
