This is one of our best selling Great Ocean Road tours as it gives you the opportunity to relocate between cities while taking in the magnificent great ocean Road in the process. Our Melbourne to Adelaide tour has exactly the same itinerary as our 2 day great Ocean road tours until the afternoon of the second day. By that time we have explored the great diversity of this famous coastal region and are bound for Adelaide. As with all of our Great Ocean Road tours we have put together a relaxed but thorough itinerary and teamed it with wonderful accommodation and restaurant meals. The second night of our Melbourne to Adelaide tour is at the ‘The Barn’ in Mt Gambier. Our guests love the all inclusive nature of this quiet hotel situated in Farmland just south of the township. Warm country hospitality, large beautifully furnished rooms and great food make your stay here easy and enjoyable.
When the journey continues the next day we drive through the Coonawarra Wine region before you discover a World Heritage site at Naracoorte Caves National Park. This is a site famous for the fossilised remains of the ‘Mega Fauna’. Included in your tour is a 1 hour cave tour with a local ranger to explain the ‘Mega Fauna’ and the site’s history and significance.
We then travel north towards Keith (lunch) before following the train line, trucks and water pipeline towards Adelaide. As we get towards the Adelaide Hills there are two stops in iconic tourist hotspots. The first is Hahndorf, a cute tourist town established by German immigrants around 1837 and MT lofty that allows birds eye views of Adelaide and it’s surrounds.
Of course we do not only take people to Adelaide but also from Adelaide to Melbourne. While the itinerary is different the inclusions are the same. Both directions have advantages over the other and we would be happy to discuss these with you. Regardless of the direction this is a perfect region for touring due to the diversity, spectacular scenery and great hospitality.
